RICHMOND COUNTY — Several individuals are facing felony and misdemeanor charges in separate cases across Richmond County, including a Montgomery County man accused of first-degree murder, according to court records.
Marvin Danny Peralta, 24, of Troy, is charged with one count of first-degree murder. According to court records, Peralta is accused of attempting to kill an individual, identified as Miles Wilkinson, on March 16. An arrest warrant was issued March 18 by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and returned April 23.
Peralta was booked into the Richmond County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 7.
In a separate case, a Montgomery County woman is accused of setting multiple fires in Richmond County.
According to court records, Gladys Marie Bennett Warren, 31, of Candor, allegedly set fire to woods about a quarter mile west of the intersection of North Horseshoe Road and U.S. Highway 1 near 140 Horseshoe Road in Rockingham by “burning small sticks and pine needles” on April 18. She is also accused of causing damage to land belonging to two individuals and of second-degree trespassing by being on the curtilage of a property between midnight and 6 a.m.
North Carolina has been under a burn ban since March 28.
Warren was charged with setting fire to woods, lands or fields, open burning when prohibited, injury to trees, crops or lands, and second-degree trespassing. The warrant was issued April 18, and she was arrested April 22.
She was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 14.
In another case, a Rockingham woman is accused of breaking into a church and stealing items.
According to an arrest warrant issued by the Rockingham Police Department, Candice Kelly Hardin, 40, allegedly broke into Monte Horeb Church of God on Hancock Street with “intent to commit a felony therein.” She is also accused of stealing a “variety of food” valued at $1,000 and damaging a church window, with damages exceeding $200.
The warrant was issued April 23, and Hardin was arrested the same day. She was charged with breaking or entering a place of religious worship with intent to commit a felony or larceny, larceny after breaking or entering, and injury to personal property.
Hardin was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 7.
In a separate case, a Hamlet woman faces charges related to a vehicle break-in.
According to an arrest warrant issued by the Hamlet Police Department, Adrienne Genia McNair, 39, allegedly entered a vehicle by opening the passenger door and took items including a wallet containing debit and credit cards, state and federal identification cards, and $500 in cash, with the total value of the property listed at $1,000. The warrant was issued and served April 20.
McNair was charged with one felony count each of breaking or entering a motor vehicle, possession of stolen goods or property, and felony larceny.
Court records show McNair has also been indicted in a separate case by the Rockingham Police Department on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses, attempted obtaining property by false pretenses, and identity theft.
She was initially booked into the Richmond County Jail without bond. A $25,000 secured bond was later set during her first court appearance April 21. Her next court date is scheduled for April 30.
