RICHMOND COUNTY — A Rockingham man faces felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities said he stole food from a local store and was found in possession of methamphetamine, according to arrest warrants.
Kever Shonone Rowell, 28, is accused of taking two cans of food and “multiple” Slim Jim’s from Dollar General, “while still upon the premises of the store and not having therefore purchased the goods and merchandise,” the warrant states. He was also found with an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine.
Rowell was arrested and charged with one felony count of possession of methamphetamine and one misdemeanor count of shoplifting.
He was previously charged March 27 with possession of stolen goods for allegedly having another individual’s registration plate.
Rowell’s first court appearance was April 8. His next hearing is scheduled for April 16. He was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond.
He also has pending charges in Randolph County for possession of marijuana paraphernalia, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods.
In a separate case, a Cumberland County woman accused of child abuse and sexual abuse offenses was apprehended in Richmond County.
According to an arrest warrant issued April 1, Sara Jane Britton, 32, of Spring Lake, is accused of permitting her husband, Anthony Lee Claussen, to sexually abuse a child under the age of 10 while Britton was the child’s guardian. The offense allegedly occurred Nov. 1, 2025, and resulted in “serious mental injury” to the child.
Britton faces multiple charges, including negligent child abuse with serious bodily injury, felony child abuse by sexual act and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
She was arrested April 8 and is being held in the Richmond County Jail under a combined $250,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in court at the Cumberland County Detention Center on April 23. Court records show she was cited last month for misdemeanor larceny in Cumberland County.
Claussen, 32, was issued an arrest warrant April 6 by the Spring Lake Police Department and faces multiple charges, including indecent liberties with a child, negligent child abuse with serious bodily injury, statutory sexual offense with a child by an adult, sexual activity by a substitute parent or custodian and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
He was initially booked into the Moore County Jail under a $75,000 secured bond before being transferred Tuesday to the Cumberland County Jail, where he is being held without bond. His disposition hearing is scheduled for April 28.
