ROCKINGHAM — On April 1, 2026, members of the General Henry William Harrington Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), assembled and donated 50 Birthday Cake Kits in recognition of the Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.) Day of Service.
C.A.R. Day of Service is observed annually to encourage young patriots and their supporting DAR chapters to engage in meaningful acts of community service. The day highlights the importance of civic responsibility, volunteerism, and uplifting others through simple, heartfelt gestures.
Inspired by the belief that everyone deserves a birthday cake, no matter what their situation, chapter members created kits containing cake mix, frosting, candles, and a disposable pan. These kits were donated to Our Daily Bread Food Pantry to ensure that individuals and families experiencing food insecurity can still celebrate their special day with dignity and joy.
“This project reflects the spirit of service that connects DAR and C.A.R. across generations,” said Regent Melissa Wall. “A birthday is a moment of hope and celebration, and we want every person in our community to feel remembered and valued.”
The General Henry William Harrington Chapter, NSDAR, remains committed to supporting local families, strengthening community partnerships, and honoring the DAR mission through meaningful acts of service throughout the year.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, founded in 1890, is a nonprofit, nonpolitical women’s service organization dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. With more than 190,000 members nationwide, DAR volunteers contribute millions of service hours each year in their communities.
