ROCKINGHAM — The General Henry William Harrington Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) has announced the induction of its newest member, Beth McDonald, during the chapter’s March meeting.
McDonald, a native of Hamlet, is a graduate of Hamlet High School and attended Wingate College. She and her husband, Carnie, live near Rockingham and are both employed at Hamlet Hardware. They are the parents of four daughters and grandparents to two granddaughters and two grandsons.
In recent years, McDonald has taken a growing interest in researching her family history. Her work led to the discovery and verification that her fourth great-grandfather served as a soldier in the American Revolution.
“I am humbled and proud to learn of my Patriot ancestor’s service,” McDonald said. “It is an honor to become a member of the Henry William Harrington DAR Chapter, and I look forward to promoting, supporting, and encouraging American patriotism and service.”
Chapter Regent Melissa Wall welcomed McDonald with enthusiasm. “Beth is a wonderful addition to our chapter,” Wall said. “Her pride in her Patriot ancestor and her eagerness to serve reflect the very best of DAR. We are delighted to have her join our DAR family.”
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, founded in 1890, is a nonprofit, nonpolitical women’s service organization dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism. With more than 190,000 members nationwide, DAR volunteers contribute millions of service hours each year in their communities.
