Hamlet — With spring approaching, two popular Hamlet events, Main Street Movie Nights and the Hamlet City Lake Pop-Up Market, will return in the coming weeks.
This year, the Seaboard city will host four movie nights with an array of genres, all free to the public. The movies will be shown at Main Street Park in downtown Hamlet. The movies scheduled this year are:
• Disney Pixar’s Soul (2020) on April 10
• Wizard of Oz (1939) on May 8
• Little Rascals (1994) on Sept. 11
• Halloweentown (1998) on Oct. 9
Showtimes will vary depending on sunset. Seating for the first showing of the series, Soul, will begin at 8 p.m., with the movie starting at 8:30 p.m. This year, the movies are sponsored by Arco Photography and licensed through Swank Motion Pictures.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own snacks, but alcohol and coolers are not allowed. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.
Visit Hamlet issued a disclaimer in a social media post announcing the series.
“Please do your own research regarding any movies we show, while we personally picked movies we believe to be family friendly; it is ultimately up to you to make that call. We are not responsible for anything you may disagree with in a movie we show.”
“I look forward to people coming together for an evening where they can all enjoy a movie together in peace, said Toni Kubiak, Administrative Assistant for Community Engagement. “I hope people take away that movies are a great way to bring different people together around a common interest (the movie).”
The Hamlet Pop-Up Market will return April 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Additional dates are scheduled for May 2, June 6, Aug. 1, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7. Vendor applications are currently available and should be submitted to the Hamlet Visitor’s Center or the Hamlet Senior Center.
“All take place on Saturdays, although this year some of the dates have changed to accommodate other events or holidays,” read a social media post issued by Visit Hamlet, NC.
For vendors wishing to submit an application, the rules and regulations have been updated for 2026, and applicants are encouraged to review the new information. Forms can be accessed online at hamletnc.us/forms or picked up at the Hamlet Visitor’s Center, the Hamlet Senior Center or Hamlet City Hall.
