RICHMOND COUNTY — A Hamlet woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a purse and using the cards inside.
According to an arrest warrant, Adrienne Genia McNair, 39, stole a Coach purse from a victim on Feb. 12. The purse contained a debit card, CashApp card, Social Security card, $1,500 in U.S. currency, cigarettes, makeup and other items, with an estimated total value of $1,850.
McNair used the debit card to make a $2.96 purchase at Murphy’s Gas Station at 716 East U.S. Highway in Rockingham and attempted another purchase of $174.25 at the same location.
An arrest warrant was issued Feb. 13 by the Rockingham Police Department, charging McNair with felony larceny; one felony count of obtaining property by false pretenses; two felony counts of financial card theft; two felony counts of identity theft; and one felony count of attempted obtaining property by false pretenses.
McNair was arrested Feb. 13 and booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $20,000 secured bond. She was released Feb. 16. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 26.
In a separate case, a Rockingham man is facing eight felony charges related to a child sexual abuse case that began in September 2017.
According to court documents, Marin Vazquez Valencia, 47, began sexually abusing the victim in 2017, when the victim was 8-years-old and Valencia was 37. The abuse continued for approximately four years, documents state.
An arrest warrant was issued Jan. 22 by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, charging Valencia with five counts of statutory sex offense with a child 15 or younger, indecent liberties with a child, and felony child abuse by sexual act.
Valencia was arrested Feb. 12 and booked into the Richmond County Jail without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 26.
