RICHMOND COUNTY — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, working alongside the United States Marshals Service, has wrapped up a countywide compliance effort, “Operation New Year’s Resolution,” officials announced Wednesday.
The initiative, completed this week, focused on verifying addresses and conducting compliance checks for registered sex offenders living in Richmond County. Deputies and their federal partners fanned out across the county to ensure those required to register were following state reporting laws.
In total, authorities verified 173 registered addresses. According to the sheriff’s office, every address checked was in full compliance with registry requirements, and no violations were uncovered.
Officials said the operation was designed to reinforce accountability while prioritizing community safety.
“This operation demonstrates our ongoing commitment to public safety and accountability,” said Sheriff Mark B. Gulledge of the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. “Collaborating with the United States Marshals Service strengthens our enforcement efforts and helps ensure compliance with laws designed to protect our community.”
The sheriff’s office conducts routine compliance checks throughout the year and will continue working with local, state and federal partners to enforce registry laws and address any violations, they said.
