ROCKINGHAM — Richmond County Rescue Mission, Inc. was recently named as a recipient of the Amazon Richmond County Community Fund Award. County Commissioner Robin Roberts accepted the award on behalf of the organization during a presentation by Amazon representatives.
In addition to the recognition, the Rescue Mission received a $10,000 grant to support critical facility improvements at the Place of Grace Campus.
The funding has been used to help install new energy-efficient HVAC units in the residential living areas of the facility. These upgrades significantly improve indoor air quality, climate control, and overall comfort for individuals transitioning toward stable housing, long-term recovery, and renewed purpose.
“This investment goes far beyond equipment,” said Executive Director Matthew Davis. “It helps create a safe, stable, and dignified environment where men and women can focus on recovery and rebuilding their lives. We are deeply grateful to Amazon for supporting our mission and believing in the work being done here in Richmond County.”
The new HVAC systems directly benefit over 50 residents annually by providing consistent heating and cooling throughout the year. Reliable climate control is essential to maintaining health, reducing stress, and supporting the restorative recovery model used at Place of Grace Campus.
The Rescue Mission continues working to secure funding for additional HVAC units to complete upgrades across the entire facility.
