RICHMOND COUNTY — Sidney Pittman, who is accused of firing into Tashika Trimble’s vehicle during a December incident in Ellerbe, has been arrested again, this time without bond.
District Attorney Jamie Adams announced Friday that additional charges have been filed against Pittman in connection with the incident.
“Following a review of the investigative file submitted by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, District Attorney Jamie Adams has authorized two additional counts of attempted first-degree murder. The charges are in addition to those already filed,” read a press release issued Friday.
Tashika Trimble was delivering Amazon packages on Dec. 14 when she mistakenly pulled into Pittman’s driveway on Jones Springs Church Road before proceeding to the correct address. Her teenage son, Jonathan Leak, was in the vehicle with her at the time. After completing the delivery at the correct address, Trimble was leaving the area when Pittman fired into her car, according to earlier reports.
“The arrest follows District Attorney Jamie Adams’s decision to pursue two counts of attempted murder after an investigation into the December 12, 2025, shooting on Jones Springs Church Road in the Ellerbe community of Richmond County,” reads a media release by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Pittman was initially arrested Dec. 15 and charged with a felony count of discharging a weapon into an occupied property and a misdemeanor count of injury to personal property. He was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond and was released Dec. 18. Court records show the release order for those initial charges prohibited Pittman from possessing firearms and from having contact with the reported victims in the case.
Adams addressed the decision in the same release, emphasizing the seriousness of the case.
“The lives of every person in our community are precious,” said Adams in a press release. “Senseless gun violence will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
The case has drawn public attention in recent weeks. Civil rights activist John C. Barnett III of True Healing Under God hosted two press conferences in December and last week outside the old courthouse in Rockingham, calling for accountability related to the incident.
According to court records, Pittman’s next court appearance for the initial charges is scheduled for Jan. 26. A hearing on the attempted murder charges is set for Jan. 29. Court records also indicate that a motion to withdraw as counsel was filed Tuesday at 10:11 a.m.; however, the document had not been uploaded to the court system at the time of publication.
