RICHMOND COUNTY — A license checkpoint conducted by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday led to an arrest and multiple citations within a two-hour period, according to a media release.
Sheriff Mark B. Gulledge announced in the release the arrest of Grayson Kane Goodman, 35, of Hamlet, after K9 Hunter, a narcotics-trained dog, alerted deputies to Goodman’s vehicle during the check. The checkpoint was conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Traffic Safety Team and Community Impact Team.
Following the alert, deputies searched the vehicle and discovered 7.65 grams of fentanyl.
Goodman was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $100,000 secured bond. He is charged with trafficking in fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also received citations for expired registration and driving while his driver’s license was revoked.
In addition to the arrest, deputies issued several citations during the checkpoint. According to the Sheriff’s Office, 14 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with a revoked license, three drivers were cited for not having a valid license, and additional citations were issued for an insurance violation, a child restraint violation and one charge of possession of marijuana.
All charges and violations were issued during the two-hour checkpoint, according to the release.
