RICHMOND COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities are investigating after a man was found shot on Tabernacle Road near the Richmond County line Friday night.
Deputies with the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. following a report of a possible shooting victim. Upon arrival, deputies found a man lying on the ground beside a vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office.
Multiple people were detained at the scene as part of the initial investigation, but no arrests have been made, deputies said.
The victim’s identity has not been released. Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
