RICHMOND COUNTY — An Ellerbe man faces multiple charges after allegedly fighting with deputies as they attempted to arrest him on an assault charge.
According to court records, a warrant was sworn out Jan. 4, accusing Wesley Bryan Parsons, 34, of striking another man inside a car. The alleged assault caused the victim to fall, resulting in scrapes to his side and bruising on his face.
Deputies with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office attempted to arrest Parsons on the warrant, which charged him with misdemeanor assault and battery. According to the arrest warrant, Parsons kicked one deputy in the leg and another in the chest during the arrest.
Parsons is charged with one count of resisting a public officer and two misdemeanor counts of assault on a government official or employee.
He was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a combined secured bond of $11,000 — $1,000 for the assault and battery charge and $10,000 for the remaining charges. Parsons is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 12 for the assault charge and Jan. 15 for the additional charges.
Court records show Parsons was convicted in 2023 in Moore County for possession of drug paraphernalia and in 2024 in Richmond County for a misdemeanor probation violation.
