RICHMOND COUNTY — A woman was arrested Wednesday afternoon after authorities say she stabbed her brother during an altercation in Richmond County.
According to a media release from the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to North U.S. Highway 1 near the Philadelphia community after receiving a report of a man suffering from a stab wound.
“Upon arrival, deputies located the injured male and rendered aid. A female suspect was detained at the scene. The male was transported by FirstHealth EMS to the helipad at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Richmond Campus, and then airlifted to a trauma center for further treatment,” the release stated.
The female suspect was also transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Richmond Campus, for treatment of her injuries before being released to investigators.
Investigators later determined the incident stemmed from an altercation between adult siblings that began inside a vehicle parked outside a residence.
According to the media release, the suspect was identified as Zanadi Rodreak Hammond, 27, who “entered her residence, retrieved a large kitchen knife, and confronted her brother, stabbing him.”
Hammond also sustained injuries during the incident.
She was charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $350,000 secured bond.
In a separate case, a woman was arrested on Jan. 2 after allegedly stealing firearms and selling them.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Lisa Knight Young, 51, stole a Winchester 1904 .22-caliber rifle, a Stevens Model 94 Series K 20-gauge shotgun and a Remington 1100 semi-automatic 20-gauge shotgun in September.
Authorities said Young sold all three firearms to Broad Street Jewelry and Loan for $225, allegedly claiming ownership of the weapons “despite knowing they were not hers to sell.”
According to the sheriff’s office, “Property Crimes Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Division have been dedicated to this case since its inception on Oct. 6, 2025.”
Young is charged with three counts of larceny of firearms, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of obtaining property by false pretense. She was processed and booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $15,000 secured bond and was released the same day after posting bond. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 22, 2026.
Court records show Young was previously convicted of felony larceny from a merchant, a Class H felony, stemming from an offense committed on Dec. 15, 2015. She pleaded guilty on March 17, 2017, in Cumberland County District Court and was sentenced to 7–18 months in prison, with 13 days served.
