ROCKINGHAM — A man was arrested after authorities say he stole tools and copper wire during multiple incidents at a Duke Energy property in Rockingham.
Jordan Franklin Jacobs, 28, is accused of going to the site three times and stealing property from Great Southwestern Construction Co., according to court records. The thefts occurred at the Duke Energy facility at 179 Substation Road.
Court records say Jacobs stole assorted Milwaukee power tools valued at $40,000 on Nov. 6, along with copper wire valued at $500 on Nov. 20 and Nov. 30.
Jacobs was charged with three counts of first-degree trespassing on infrastructure and three counts of larceny after breaking and entering.
He was arrested Dec. 24 and booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $22,500 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 8.
Court records show Jacobs was also issued an order for arrest after failing to appear in court. He is being held under an additional $41,000 secured bond for two probation violations and charges of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and discharging a weapon into an occupied property causing serious injury.
Records show the attempted robbery and discharging a weapon charges were dismissed under a plea agreement after he was convicted in 2023 of conspiracy and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
