ELLERBE — Santa made his way from the North Pole to the Kemp Sugg Library in Ellerbe, bringing holiday cheer to children and families.
“My favorite thing is seeing how excited the kids are for Santa. This is my biggest event of the year and I have the most fun doing this one of the year. I’ve been prepping for this going on six weeks. I’m ready for everybody to see it,” said Branch Manager Ashley Scott.
The General Henry William Harrington Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution came together to make 50 toy bags for the children who stopped by to visit Santa Claus.
Scott hopes the children who visit Santa create lasting memories.
“The magic of Christmas. Creating memories where children and family can look back years from now. They can think about the letters they wrote and the presents they got and just the magic of seeing Santa.”
The Kemp Sugg Library will host a STEMFEST event on Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
“We will be teaching kids how to lift and search for fingerprints,” said Scott.
The Hamlet Public Library will host a holiday craft event Wednesday at 10 a.m. for children ages 3–12. Santa will make his way to the Leath Memorial Library in Rockingham on Friday for a meet-and-greet. The library will hold craft time from 4 to 5 p.m., with the meet-and-greet from 5 to 7 p.m.
Ellerbe Hometown Christmas will take place Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Main Street will be lined with food trucks and craft vendors. The event will feature a 360 photo booth, hayrides, a game truck and Santa. In conjunction with Ellerbe Hometown Christmas, the O Holy Night Around the World event will be open Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is hosting their annual Santa and friends toy parade on Saturday, Dec. 13. The parade will kick off at Cordova Fire and Rescue at 1 p.m., followed by Ellerbe Rescue Squad and East Rockingham Fire Department at 3 p.m.
