HAMLET — Two people were arrested Tuesday after Richmond County investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Old Cheraw Road following community complaints about suspected criminal activity, according to a media release posted by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
The release stated that the Community Impact Team (CIT), with help from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), the Special Response Team (SRT), patrol deputies and a special agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), searched the home at 197 Old Cheraw Road in Hamlet.
Investigators said they began looking into the residence after receiving reports from residents about ongoing illegal activity. Surveillance and evidence collection led to probable cause for the warrant.
During the search, investigators arrested Richard Dockery, 66, who lives at the home. He faces several charges including possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance.
Also arrested was Derian Jade Wood, 29, of Whispering Pines in Moore County. She was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule III controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Authorities said she also had an outstanding arrest order from Moore County for failure to appear in court.
Dockery was booked into the Richmond County Jail under a $60,000 secured bond. Wood was not issued a bond because she is already out on bail for an unrelated charge.
