ROCKINGHAM — Earlier this month, the Rockingham Police Department announced in a statement a man had been arrested for first-degree murder.

At 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 3, officers from the Rockingham Police Department responded to Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital-Richmond Campus in response to a stabbing.

Upon arrival at the hospital, officers learned that the victim had been brought in for immediate medical attention for a stab wound. According to officials, the victim was later transported to an undisclosed hospital and remains in critical condition.

Following further investigation, police identified Kevin McDonald as the suspect who stabbed the victim. McDonald was taken into custody and charged with attempted first-degree murder.

He is currently being held at Richmond County Jail and the court has denied bond.
