July 4

RICHMOND COUNTY LANDFILL AND CONVENIENCE SITES will be closed on July 4 in observance of Independence Day. While other county offices will be closed on the July 3, the convenience sites will remain open that day under normal scheduled hours.

HAMLET BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT to host Fourth of July celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. on Main Street in Hamlet with family fun, live music by Band of Gold, food and drinks, balloon animals and tattoos for kids and water fun. Bring swimming shorts. A fireworks show will take place at 9:15 p.m. at the Hamlet Depot and Main Street Park, so bring a lawn chair.

LEAK STREET ALUMNI CHAPTER OF ROCKINGHAM will have its annual “Walk Down Memory Lane” from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Liberty Place, East Washington Street, Rockingham. The cost will be $10 at the door.

ANNUAL DOWNTOWN SIDEWALK SALE AND CIRCUS in downtown Southern Pines from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers can find deals in the downtown Southern Pines stores. The Broad Street sidewalks and surrounding blocks will transform into an all-American summer carnival with clowns, games, photo booths and other attractions as if under a circus big top.
