THE WEYMOUTH CENTER will present Casey Goggin, third-place winner in the national Poetry Out Loud competition, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Weymouth Center for the Arts and Humanities, 555 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines. Goggin, a graduating senior at Pinecrest High School, will share with the public a selection of poems that launched him onto the national stage. LEGAL AID OF NORTH CAROLINA will provide a legal clinic to assist individuals directly affected by a criminal arrest/conviction record interfering with finding a job, obtaining housing or securing benefits at the Richmond County Judicial Center, 105 W. Franklin St., Rockingham. Participation in this legal clinic is open to individuals who are eligible for Legal Aid assistance at no cost. Slots are limited and a person must register before attending by calling 1-800-672-5834 by June 26. A client at this clinic will have her/his criminal record confidentially evaluated to determine whether s/he may be eligible for some type of relief in the form of an expunction and/or a certificate of relief.

TOWN OF HOFFMAN SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM will begin on June 30 and run until Aug. 8. The events will take place at the recreation center located at 106 Thompson Road. Registration forms may be picked up at the Hoffman Town Hall building during regular business hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays and noon to 5 p.m. on Thursdays. ANNUAL DOWNTOWN SIDEWALK SALE AND CIRCUS in downtown Southern Pines from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers can find deals in the downtown Southern Pines stores. The Broad Street sidewalks and surrounding blocks will transform into an all-American summer carnival with clowns, games, photo booths and other attractions as if under a circus big top.
