ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has obtained warrants for the arrest of Jaylon Montez Taylor following his escape from a foot-chase.

On April 12, at 3:05 a.m., deputies were working in the East Rockingham area and observed a white SUV speed away after the vehicle saw the law enforcement vehicle.

Once deputies caught up to the vehicle, they noticed that the vehicle had a 30-day temporary tag and busted out taillights. Deputies activated their blue lights and the suspect turned into the yard of an abandoned house.

According to a press release, Taylor exited his vehicle and ran on foot. The suspect jumped over a fence and fell, dropping a black box and blue backpack in the process.

The black box contained 43 grams of suspected cocaine and digital scale. The blue bag contained 10 grams of suspected marijuana and four unknown pills.

When deputies searched the vehicle, a rifle, 87 grams of suspected marijuana and 17 grams of cocaine were found inside a black grocery bag.

Anyone with information of Taylor’s whereabouts are asked to call 911 or Richmond County Crime Stoppers at 910-997-5454.
