ROCKINGHAM — The Ashley Chapel Community Organization will be hosting two town hall forums in advance of the May 2022 local elections.

“The Ashley Chapel Community Organization is committed to hosting events to keep citizens informed of current issues,” the ACCO said in a press release.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions directly to the candidates about their platform and how they plan to make Richmond County a thriving community.

The first event will gather all of the candidates who are running for the Richmond County Board of Commissioners. It will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, at the Ashley Chapel Community Center 297 Mizpah Rd. in Rockingham.

A second town hall forum will gather the candidates for Richmond County Sheriff and the Board of Education. It will be held on Thursday, April 21, at 6 p.m. at the same place as the previous event.

Voter registration forms will be available at both forums.

Local election important dates:

• Deadline to register to vote is April 22

• Absentee ballots will be available March 28

• One-stop early absentee voting from April 28 – May 14

• Primary and Board of Education elections on May 17

• 2022 General Election is Nov. 8, 2022
