ROCKINGHAM — Rockingham’s Thursday Plaza Jam Series will officially be taking place this year, the city announced Monday.

The bands have been booked since last year, but the plans for this summer were tentative up until Governor Roy Cooper’s most recent loosening of public gathering restrictions.

On April 21, Cooper announced that the state expects to lift mandatory social distancing, capacity and mass gathering restrictions by June 1.

“We appreciate your continued support for one of our favorite summer traditions and look forward to seeing you all in June,” said Rockingham Events Coordinator Kim Williams in an email.

Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot were planned to kickstart the series on May 6. That performance will not be taking place. The Entertainers will now be the opening act for this year’s concerts, beginning June 3. Each event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Cole Plaza at Rockingham City Hall.

The summer line up is as follows:

• June 3 — The Entertainers

• July 1 — The Embers featuring Craig Woolard

• August 5 — The Tonez

• September 2 — The Tams

• October 7 — North Tower Band
