Surgeon educates on joint replacements

CHERAW, S.C. — McLeod Health Cheraw hosted a Lunch & Learn on joint pain and replacements with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Thomas DiStefano, of McLeod Orthopaedics Cheraw, at Northeastern Technical College.

During DiStefano’s presentation “Is Joint Replacement Right for You?” he discussed joint pain of the knee and how to determine if a replacement is the right option to improve mobility and quality of life.

DiStefano came to McLeod Health in November 2017 from Missouri, where he served as orthopedic surgeon and chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at SSM Health St. Francis Hospital-Maryville. He also served as the primary team physician and surgeon for Northwest Missouri State University for 18 years.

He specializes in sports medicine, the treatment of all shoulder and knee conditions and all basic orthopedic care. Since his time in Cheraw, Dr. DiStefano has performed more than 25 total knee replacements.
