SOUTHERN PINES — The Arts Council of Moore County opens its the 2015-16 Classical Concert Series with a unique woodwind quintet called WindSync.

The group will perform at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21 at the Sunrise Theater in downtown Southern Pines. Only a few seats remain, with several ways to purchase tickets.

Concert organizers say WindSync has distinguished itself among classical music ensembles as North America’s foremost emerging woodwind quintet. The ensemble is recognized internationally for dramatic and adventurous programming in venues ranging from concert halls to museums, universities and schools.

Winner of the 2012 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, WindSync has performed at Carnegie Hall, Chautauqua Institution, Washington Performing Arts Society and Shanghai Oriental Arts Center in China, as well as on Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media’s “Performance Today.”

The remaining three series concerts include Cuarteto Casals (string quartet) on Oct. 19, British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor on Feb. 1, 2016 and The Met Opera Rising Stars on Feb. 22, 2016.

The price for all four series concerts is $89 per person for arts council members and $105 for nonmembers. Those unable to attend all the concerts can purchase a “Pick 3” pass for $75 per person for arts council members and $83 for nonmembers or a “Pick 2” pass, which is $54 for members and $58 for nonmembers. A ticket to any one of the concerts is $30.

In addition to the concert on Sept. 21, Chef Scott Wolcott of Wolcott’s Restaurant is offering a special pre-concert dinner. Located less than three blocks from the Sunrise Theater, Wolcott’s will serve a three-course meal for an all-inclusive price of $37 per person. Dinner reservations are required by Sept. 17 and can only be made by calling the arts council at 910-692-2787. Space is limited.
