Young pianists earn Highest Honors

Three young Rockingham pianists were awarded Highest Honors distinctions in the recent District 6 competition of the North Carolina Music Teachers’ Association (NCMTA). John Patrick, Alexander, and Evelyn Hutchinson competed in the Senior A, Junior B, and Junior A divisions respectively. The pianists study under Valerie Cox of Southern Pines. They are the children of Sharon and John Hutchinson of Rockingham.

Steps to Health program a path for healthy living for county youth

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) serves limited resource individuals and families nation-wide, including right here in Richmond County! SNAP-Ed is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service and, in North Carolina, works in collaboration with the NC Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Social Services. The goal of SNAP- Ed is to assist those eligible for food assistance to eat smart and move more. SNAP-Ed works to help participants make healthy choices within a limited budget and choose physically active lifestyles consistent with the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate.
