ROCKINGHAM — A Hamlet woman is accused of stealing more than $25,000 worth of jewelry from an 82-year-old.
Richmond County sheriff’s deputies say Linda Douglas Overstreet, 37, of Clay Street, carried off several earrings and necklaces from the home of an elderly woman between June 1 and July 1.
Documents show Overstreet took a pair of diamond earrings, a pair of diamond studs, two pinky rings, a set of white pearl earrings with a necklace, four gold chains, one gold chain with a diamond, a John Hardy necklace and set of John Hardy earrings, a pair of diamond hoop earrings and a gold watch.
Deputies say the total value of the jewelry is $25,100.
A warrant for Overstreet’s arrest was issued July 7.
She was arrested and charged with one count of felony larceny.
A release order shows Overstreet was released on a $3,000 unsecured bond July 9.
Deputies say some, but not all, of the pilfered pieces have been recovered.
