ROCKINGHAM: Mrs. Ruth Scott Brayboy, 67, of 95 Short St., Rockingham, died Tuesday, January 17 in Sandhills Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 21, in the Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church in Hamlet with Pastor Mike Childers and Reverend Royce Honeycutt officiating. Internment will follow in Eastside Cemetery.

Ruth was born in Scotland County on June 7, 1944, daughter of the late James and Mary Oxendine Jacobs. She had retired from Sandhurst Mill.

She is survived by her husband, D.C. Brayboy; a son, Billy Harrell Brayboy of Hamlet; a daughter, Laura Brayboy Nance of Rockingham; two brothers, Henry Oxendine of Pembroke, James Bradford of Siler City; three sisters, Rose Bradford of Siler City, Fannie Jacobs of Pembroke, Rosalee Jacobs of Rowland; grandsons Bryan Wallace and Adam Hatcher; and great-grandchildren Kirsten Wallace and Bryan Wallace, Jr.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9 Pm at Mt. Carmel Free Will Baptist Church, and other times at the home.
