HAMLET — Richmond County Schools are closed due to icy weather conditions today, per Superintendent Dr. Cindy Goodman. With ground surfaces, trees and power lines coated in ice and temperatures expected to remain in the mid-thirties throughout the day, conditions will remain hazardous for walking and driving well into the afternoon. Meterologists expect some refreezing overnight tonight.
