ROCKINGHAM — The Honorable Lisa Thacker swore Patrick McCrary in as an assistant district attorney Monday at the Richmond County Judicial Center.
District Attorney Reece Saunders welcomed McCrary as the latest addition to prosecutorial district 20A, which serves Anson, Richmond and Stanly counties.
The district attorney’s office said its mission is to “seek justice by ensuring that victims’ rights and the public’s safety are our No. 1 priority through the fair, equal, vigorous and efficient enforcement of the criminal laws.”
McCrary attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated from the UNC School of Law. He previously served as an assistant district attorney in Halifax, handling felony drug, firearm and traffic offenses.
Before that, McCrary served for nearly two years as a research assistant for Scott Childs, clinical professor of law and deputy director of the law library at UNC Chapel Hill.
He also served as legislative intern in the N.C. House majority leader’s office under Rep. Hugh Holliman in 2007.
