Police identify woman killed in Fayetteville house fire


FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Police have identified a woman who was found dead after a fire at a Fayetteville home.

Local media outlets report that 53-year-old Rachel Leal died in the fire that happened at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Her husband, 56-year-old Patrick Leal, was able to escape the house and was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. Authorities said he wasn’t able to reach his wife through the smoke.

Three dogs were also found dead inside the home.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
