CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden’s trip to North Carolina next week now includes a public event in Charlotte to talk about how businesses and community colleges work together help people rise into the middle class.

Biden’s visit on Monday to Central Piedmont Community College seeks to highlight President Barack Obama administration’s efforts to support business-college partnerships. The trip was announced on Friday.

Biden already had been scheduled to participate in a private event Monday in Raleigh to raise money for the Democratic Governors Association. The group is working to elect Democratic gubernatorial candidates like Attorney General Roy Cooper, who is seeking to unseat Republican Gov. Pat McCrory.
