DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — A mother charged after her 3-year-old daughter was found dead in a van in Durham remains behind bars after having her bond increased.

Local media outlets report that 24-year-old Rocio Murillo-Estrada was charged Tuesday with involuntary manslaughter and felony child abuse or neglect in the death of Leslie Ramirez. A judge raised her bond from $50,000 to $100,000.

The girl was found in a hot van Aug. 29 and later pronounced dead.

Prosecutors said Wednesday that the girl was left in the van after a dinner outing and that Murrilo-Estrada fought with her earlier that day.

Prosecutors say that Murillo-Estrada is a flight risk, stating that she isn’t a U.S. citizen and she recently visited the Mexican consulate in Raleigh.

Murillo-Estrada’s defense says she visited the consulate solely for legal advice.
