Pizza delivery driver pleads guilty in man’s death

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — A Domino’s Pizza delivery driver has pleaded guilty in the death of a Wilmington man who was struck in May.

News outlets report 22-year-old Brittany Boddiford was sentenced to 13 to 25 months in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to involuntary manslaughter and other charges in 36-year-old LaColtus AnTwan Grady’s death

New Hanover County Assistant District Attorney Doug Carriker says Boddiford slammed into Grady, who was getting into his car, May 5 when she reached for her cellphone.

Police found marijuana in her vehicle.

Carriker said that in the weeks leading up to the killing, Boddiford received two speeding tickets and a complaint about erratic driving.

Grady’s parents filed a four-count $100 million wrongful death lawsuit Tuesday against Boddiford and Domino’s.

A company representative couldn’t be reached for comment.
