FORT MILL, S.C. (AP) — Sheriff’s deputies say a juvenile has been shot and wounded in the parking lot of the Carowinds theme mark on the South Carolina-North Carolina state line near Charlotte.

York County sheriff’s spokesman Trent Faris says the shooting happened around 7:15 p.m. Monday in the bus drop-off and pickup areas on the South Carolina side of the park.

The teen was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. There’s no word on his condition but Charlotte EMS officials called the injuries serious. His name has not been released.

Authorities are looking for a suspect.

Faris said the shooting appears to have stemmed from an earlier argument in the park.

He said the shooting happened as the park was closing, so there was no widespread panic.
