SALISBURY, N.C. (AP) — Officials have recovered the body of a 16-year-old boy who they say drowned in a Rowan County quarry.
Multiple news agencies report the incident happened Sunday at the Balfour Quarry near Salisbury.
Witnesses told officials that the teenage went under the water while trying to swim across the quarry and never resurfaced.
Divers later found his body.
The cause of the drowning has not yet been determined. Officials have not released the teen’s identity.
