FLAT ROCK, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina congressman under investigation for paying an employee accused of sexual harassment for months after he was fired is holding a town hall in Flat Rock.
Rep. Mark Meadows is scheduled to hold a public meeting Tuesday evening at Blue Ridge Community College.
Last week, a congressional review panel said there was “substantial reason to believe” that Meadows may have broken House rules when he approved severance payments to his former chief of staff.
A lawyer for Meadows sent a letter saying the congressman may have misinterpreted House rules. He also notes that Meadows reported the situation after learning of the investigation.
Meadows’ office says he’ll update constituents on events in Washington, discuss issues like refugee resettlement and the Internal Revenue Service and hear comments and questions.
