MAURY, N.C. (AP) — Authorities are searching for an inmate who they say escaped from a prison in North Carolina.

The state’s Department of Public Safety said in a statement that 37-year-old Waylon Flynn escaped Saturday night from the Greene Correctional Center in Maury, which is about 80 miles southeast of Raleigh.

State officials say Flynn was serving a sentence for obtaining property by false pretenses.

He was admitted to the prison in July and was set to be released in December.

Anyone with information about Flynn’s whereabouts should notify local law enforcement or the Greene Correctional Center at 252-747-3676.
