WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Police in Winston-Salem say a volunteer teaching assistant at an elementary school is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor in connection with pictures taken in the school’s cafeteria.

A statement from police on Thursday said 75-year-old Walter Schorer is charged with third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

The statement said police received information last September regarding pictures of young children printed by a customer using a photo kiosk at a local drug store. The pictures showed young girls in what appeared to be a school cafeteria which was identified as the one where Schorer worked as a volunteer.

Schorer was arrested Thursday and released on a written promised to appear in court Aug. 25. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
