NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — A Wilmington, North Carolina, man is charged in a fatal weekend hit-and-run in North Myrtle Beach.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler tells local media outlets that 41-year-old Robert Woods of North Myrtle Beach was struck and killed shortly before 8:30 on Saturday night.

Authorities say a man and a woman were arguing near the entrance to the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex when a car veered off the road and hit the man.

North Myrtle Beach city spokesman Pat Dowling says that 29-year-old Timothy Earl Drew of Wilmington was later arrested in Surfside Beach and faces several charges in the incident.

He is in jail and it wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
