ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Search warrants and court documents show a Buncombe County plastic surgeon was under investigation for embezzlement when he was found shot to death in his home.

Authorities say Frank Buddy McCutcheon’s wife found the 64-year-old doctor dead on the couch in his Arden home on July 16 with a gunshot wound to the head. The back door near his body was open.

The Citizen-Times of Asheville reports (http://avlne.ws/2a5TCkv ) court records show the North Carolina Department of Revenue asked for payroll records and income tax returns from the couple five days before McCutcheon’s death.

The search warrants cite a possible murder investigation, but no charges have been filed.

The warrants say a gun thought to be owned by the couple was found in ivy between McCutcheon’s home and his neighbor’s house
