MIAMI (AP) — The National Hurricane Center says a tropical depression has formed southwest of Mexico.

Forecasters say the storm poses no threat to land Saturday night and is expected to become a tropical storm Sunday.

The depression was about 700 miles (1,130 kilometers) south-southwest of the southern tip of Baja California with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (55 kph). It was moving toward the northwest at 12 mph (19 kph).
