Allan Maynard Poplin, 91, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at Lilesville Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Lilesville Cemetery.

The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Poplin was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Anson County, a son of the late James Thomas Poplin and the late Betty Elizabeth Liles Poplin. He was retired from Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company, a member of Lilesville Baptist Church and a veteran of the Untied States Navy, having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Broome Poplin.

Surviving are his children, Allan (Monica) Poplin of Palmerton, Pa., Linda Lester of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Michael Poplin of Hamlet; his twin sister, Allie Mae McCormick of Peachland; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lilesville Cemetery Fund, % Donna McAllister, P.O. Box 226, Lilesville, NC 28091.

The arrangements are in care of Leavitt Funeral Home.
