Mrs. Betty Ellen Hucks Harris, 82, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Burroughs-Cooper-Kiser Funeral Home. Burial will follow in McCall Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Born, March 19, 1930 in Horry County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Marvin and Rebecca Harriet Hendricks Hucks.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Austin Harris of the home; son, Joseph “Joey” Harris and wife Lynne of Huntersville, NC; daughter, Betty Jean “B.J.” Samuels and husband Gary of Hamlet, NC; brothers, J. Howard Hucks of Bennettsville, SC, and Paul Hucks and wife Marie of Bennettsville, SC; sisters, Velma Hucks of Bennettsville, SC, and Elizabeth Daniels Wells and husband Danny of Goose Creek, SC; grandchildren, Joseph Harris of San Antonio, TX, Ellen Turner and husband Jamie of Troutman, NC, Fletcher Samuels and wife Amber of Statesville, NC, and Amanda Reiser and husband Lindy of Mooresville, NC; great-grandchildren, Justin and Garrett Turner, Austin Samuels, and Reagan and Emily Reiser; and a sister-in-law, June Hucks of Florence, SC.
