Charles Lindy Dutton Jr., 58, of Winston Salem, N.C., died on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at his home.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Hayworth-Miller, Silas Creek Chapel, with Pastor David DiMarco officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, at Richmond County Memorial Park in Rockingham.
Dutton was born on May 30, 1954, to Charles Lindy Dutton Sr. and the late Harriett Ruth Earl Dutton. Dutton graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College, he was also a member of Central Terrace United Methodist Church. Dutton was a musician, who played the guitar and the piano. He was a member of the choir at church and played the guitar. He sang in a quartet, the Gospel Sounds, for many years. He was a business owner, who provided transportation to people with handicaps for his business which was called Travel-Aid.
Surviving Dutton are his father of the home, one aunt, Dorothea Dutton of Hamlet, fifteen cousins, all part of a large, close, extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to Central Terrace Methodist Church, 3 East Devonshire St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
