Charles McDonald Williams of Laurinburg passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012 at the age of 79.

The family will have a graveside memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Hamlet officiated by Rev. Deck Guess and The Rev. Dr. Howard Whitehurst.

Charles was born February 13, 1933 in Richmond County, son of the late Colin and Jessie McDonald Williams. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force. He served as the Scotland County Finance Officer retiring after many years of dedicated service. He was a longtime member of the Old Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church. Charles loved picking his guitar, playing country and blue grass music and he also enjoyed gardening. He was a cancer survivor and lived each day to the fullest. Above all, Charles was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Williams and siblings, Colin Ray Williams and Betty W. Tucker.

Charles is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Medley Williams of the home; sons, Charles “Allen” Williams and wife Tanya of Laurinburg, Russell A. Williams of Los Angeles, CA; his daughter, Georgia “Ann” Williams Goodwin and husband Frank of Laurinburg; a brother, David Williams of Rockingham; four grandchildren, Tyler Goodwin, Samuel Goodwin, Alex Williams, Colton Williams and his K9 friends, Brandie and Patches.

Visitation will be from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Richard Boles Funeral Service.

The family request in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the Humane Society of Scotland County, 1401 West Blvd, Laurinburg, NC 28352.
