Jimmy Vincent Burr, 88, died Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center Union in Monroe.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Peachland United Methodist Church with Rev. Nicole Jones and Rev. Ruth Mercer officiating. Interment will follow in Mineral Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held tonight (Tuesday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro and other times at the home.

Jimmy was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Anson County, a son of the late Jim Thomas and Rosa Currie Burr. He was retired from USDA as a federal crop insurance agent, a veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of Peachland United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Burr.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 65 years, Virginia Johnson Burr of the home; his children, Vent Burr of Peachland and Kaye Edwards of Polkton; five grandchildren and a great-grandson. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, David Burr, Peggy Pinkston and Minnie Lee Moore, all of Wadesboro, and Ben Burr of Rockingham.
