Robert Mitchell Barrington, 81, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 20, at 3 p.m. in the Secrest Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Barrington was born in Richmond County on Aug. 7, 1930, son of the late Fairley Mitchell and Grace Cornelia Johnson Barrington. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired employee of Duke Energy.

Mr. Barrington is survived by his wife, Shirley Brown Barrington; sons, Mitchell Alan Barrington of Lincolnton and Michael Richard Barrington of Biscoe; daughter, Lisa Ann Helms of Monroe; brother, Richard Everett Barrington of Hamlet; and 7 grandchildren.
