James (Jim) Saunders, 74 of Bolivia, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. James was born in Rockingham, NC on October 21, 1937, the son of the late Jesse Louis Saunders and Nellie Andrews Saunders. He married his wife Greta of 51 years in 1961. He graduated from NC State University in 1963 and worked as manager and foreign consultant in the apparel industry for 38 years. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and sharing produce with neighbors and friends. He was especially devoted to his family and loved his church, neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Elizabeth Ramey, and a granddaughter, Mary Margaret Saunders.

Surviving James are his wife, O’Gretta Therrell Saunders, a son, Dr. James Mark Saunders, and his wife Abby Edwards Saunders of Mt. Pleasant and Little River, SC and a son Alan Lewis Saunders of Kill Devil Hill, NC. Other surviving family members are a brother, Ralph Saunders and wife Linda of Rockingham, NC and sister, Jesse Saunders of Rockingham.

The family will see friends from 6 to 8 on Friday evening at Peacock Newnam and White Funeral Services in Southport, NC.

Funeral Services will be held at Bethel UMC in Bolivia, NC at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, with Rev. Mark Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Cemetery on Midway Road, Bolivia, NC.
