The congregation of Cordova Baptist Church has welcomed their new pastor, A. B. Brown. Brown is a native of Richmond County and a graduate of Hamlet High School. His wife, Barbara is also a native of Richmond County. They have two married children, Greg and Susan, and five grandchildren.
His educational background is varied in that he did his undergraduate work at Welch College (Free Will Baptist) in Nashville, Tenn., his post graduate at Covenant Theological Seminary (Presbyterian) in St. Louis, Missouri. and his doctoral studies at Liberty University (Southern Baptist) in Lynchburg, Virginia. He taught in a Christian college for 20 years and served as academic dean for 11 years. He has pastored in North Carolina, Missouri., Virginia, and Oklahoma. While serving with the college he and Barbara traveled and ministered in Russia, India, Moldova, Romania, Canada, and many states of the U.S.
Brown and Barbara said they are delighted to be back home and grateful to the people of Cordova Baptist Church for extending them the opportunity to minister to the good people of the church.
Pastor Brown said, “I know that I have some big shoes to fill in following my friend, Pastor Bill Monroe. I trust that God will use me to build on the strong foundation he laid during his years at Cordova.”
