Mr. Lynwood Covington Sr., 90, of Rockingham, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Richmond Pines Nursing Center, Rockingham. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Philadelphia U.M. Church, Rockingham, with pastor Rev. Walter E. McLeod. Interment to follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Rockingham. Public viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel, Rockingham.

He retired from Richmond County school system and was a WW II Veteran.

Mr. Covington leaves to cherish his memories five children, Charlie Little of Trenton, N.J., Dwight Covington (Shirl, a loving daughter-in-law) of Rockingham, Lynwood Jr. (Nikki) of Rockingham, Jackie Wall of Baltimore, Md., Fran Mitchell of Charlotte; one sister, Ebbie Dowdy (William) of Rockingham; one sister-in-law, Deloris Little of Rockingham; three brothers-in-law, Connie Little, Lysander Little (Jeanette) both of Rockingham, and Benjamin Little of Rochester, N.Y.; a host of other relatives and friends; and best friends, Kenny McBride and Bunny Lee Wall.
